A Maison Krew Community-DRIVEN Marine Conservation Initiative At The Center of the Center for Marine Biodiversity. Merci, Krew!

  • Marine Coral

Corals are in fact animals. Corals, while having the appearance of vibrant rocky outcrops, are animals most closely related to jellyfish. Corals are formed by multiple small, soft organisms known as polyps. They secrete a rocky chalk-like (calcium carbonate) exoskeleton around themselves for protection.

  • Verde Island Passage

Maison Krew supports marine ecology in the Philippines by funding coral reef restoration and protecting marine habitats from destructive practices. Collaborating with our lead marine biologist Cody Miller, we promote community education on sustainable coral farming and planting.

  • Reef Conservation

Maison Krew is actively contributing to reef conservation through a range of innovative initiatives aimed at protecting and restoring coral reefs. By partnering with marine biologists and environmental organizations, Maison Krew supports research and restoration projects that focus on enhancing reef resilience against climate change and human impact.

YOUTH SERVICE TRAINING

Merci Krew provides a dynamic platform for at-risk youth service training, empowering the next generation to actively participate in marine conservation efforts. Through hands-on workshops and fieldwork, young volunteers gain practical skills in coral reef restoration, marine biology, and sustainable practices. The program includes mentorship from experienced conservationists and marine biologists, fostering a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems and the importance of preserving them. By engaging youth in meaningful service projects, Merci Krew not only enhances their environmental stewardship but also cultivates future leaders dedicated to protecting our oceans.

RESTORING CORAL REEFS

At Merci Krew, our Coral Reef Restoration initiative is a cornerstone of our commitment to marine conservation. This program involves cultivating and transplanting resilient coral species to damaged reef areas, promoting biodiversity and ecosystem recovery. By working closely with marine biologists and local communities, we ensure that these efforts are both scientifically sound and locally supported. Our restoration activities not only restore vital marine habitats but also provide educational opportunities for volunteers, fostering a deeper connection to ocean conservation and empowering individuals to take active roles in protecting our planet's underwater treasures.

ECOLOGY CONSERVATION

Merci Krew's Ecology Conservation initiative is dedicated to safeguarding marine ecosystems through a comprehensive approach that includes research, restoration, and community engagement. By partnering with environmental scientists and local stakeholders, we implement strategies to protect and restore vital marine habitats, combat pollution, and promote sustainable practices. Our efforts also focus on educating the public, particularly the youth, about the importance of marine biodiversity and the steps needed to preserve it. Through these combined efforts, Merci Krew is committed to ensuring the long-term health and resilience of our oceans.

SUSTAINABLE REEF FARM

As part of our Merci Krew initiative, we focus on ecology, conservation, and service training by providing at-risk youth with opportunities to learn about ocean conservation, particularly sustainable reef farming. This program not only equips them to contribute to the global industry by providing best-in-class coral reef fragments to saltwater reef enthusiasts but also involves them in hands-on efforts to replant and reseed decimated coral reefs. By engaging in these activities, participants gain valuable skills and knowledge while actively contributing to the restoration and preservation of marine ecosystems.
